FlytBase Plugin for Genetec Security Center

FlytBase logo

The FlytBase plugin connects the FlytBase drone platform and its docks to Genetec Security Center: drone and dock video, GPS position and metadata come in as native entities, and the operator launches a mission with a click on the map or from an alarm - without leaving Security Desk.

    • Native video in Security Desk: the drone cameras are integrated as native Security Center cameras (Omnicast), available in tiles, on the map and in a Monitoring task.

    • Real-time position & telemetry: the drone's GPS position and status (battery, operational state, technical alerts) come in on the map as native Security Center entities.

    • Dispatch from the map: a right-click creates an incident at the GPS coordinates and sends it to the drone - manually or automatically on alarm / event.

    • Event catalog & supervision: the plugin publishes the drone's operational statuses (online / offline, manual flight, wayline flight, automatic landing / return, standby, upgrading…) and a diagnostic event ("Diagnostic issue detected / recovered") that monitors connection and system health.

    • Recording & playback: video is recorded by the Genetec Archiver and replayable in a dedicated task.

    • Native configuration: everything is configured in Config Tool, with no external service to host.

    • FlytBase specifics: dock camera (Camera Dock) integrated as a video source, in addition to the drone cameras.

In summary, the integration of FlytBase and drones into Genetec Security Center represents a strategic advancement for organizations aiming to enhance their security measures. Through centralized management, real-time tracking, and mission-specific capabilities powered by FlytBase, this solution strengthens site security by improving the efficiency and responsiveness of security teams.

Frequently Asked Questions

Overview

What is the FlytBase plugin for Genetec Security Center?

The FlytBase plugin integrates the FlytBase drone platform and its docks directly into Genetec Security Center. Video streams, GPS position and mission metadata are exposed as native Security Center entities, and operators can dispatch a drone from a right-click on the map to respond to an incident from Security Desk.

What is the Drone Dispatch Framework (DDF) on which the integration is built?

The Drone Dispatch Framework (DDF) is a Genetec-certified foundation developed by ADDONXPERT (certified third-party developer) that exposes a unified interface for the multi-vendor drone integration into Security Center. The FlytBase plugin installs as a driver add-on of DDF (GSC-RS-ADX-DDF-FLYTBASE).

What are the benefits of integrating the FlytBase drone platform into Security Center?

Incident response in seconds via dispatch from the map, autonomous patrols, correlation of drone video / mapping / alarms in a single operator interface, and removal of the 'separate FlytBase console' silo - drones and docks become Security Center resources like cameras and doors.

Compatibility & requirements

Which Genetec Security Center versions are supported?

Genetec Security Center 5.11, 5.12, 5.13 and 5.14. The DDF license is only available with Security Center Enterprise packages.

Is the plugin compatible with Security Center SaaS?

No. The plugin requires an on-premise Security Center deployment because it installs as a native Genetec server role. Security Center SaaS is not supported at this time.

Which drones and docks are supported via FlytBase?

The plugin relies on the FlytBase API and supports all drones and docks that can be driven through FlytBase (DJI and other manufacturers supported by the platform). The exact compatibility matrix evolves with FlytBase updates and is published in the plugin release notes.

Is a FlytBase Cloud subscription required?

Yes. The plugin authenticates against FlytBase Cloud to receive video streams, GPS telemetry and trigger missions. An active FlytBase account and the associated API credentials are required customer-side.

Features

How does live video streaming of FlytBase drones work in Security Center (Omnicast)?

FlytBase drones and dock cameras are integrated directly into the Omnicast module as native Security Center cameras. Operators view the live video stream in Security Desk tiles, on maps or in a Monitoring task - without switching to the FlytBase application.

Can a FlytBase drone be dispatched from a right-click on the map (GPS coordinates)?

Yes. A right-click on the Security Center map creates an incident with its GPS coordinates and sends it to FlytBase to launch a mission. The workflow eliminates the dual command station and speeds up in-progress incident response.

Are FlytBase mission video recordings automatically archived?

Yes. Drone and dock video streams can be recorded by the Genetec Archiver like any Security Center camera - every flight leaves a centralized recording in Genetec, usable for audit and investigation, without relying on third-party storage.

Can the drone camera be switched between color (RGB) and thermal view from Security Desk?

Yes. On drones equipped with a dual camera (RGB + thermal), the FlytBase plugin lets the operator switch between the two views directly from Security Desk - without leaving the operator interface or opening the FlytBase application.

How are offline drone / dock cameras managed?

Drone and dock cameras remain created as Security Center entities even when the drone is not in flight. They appear in a clearly identified offline state and become active again as soon as the drone takes off - no need to recreate display configurations for each mission.

Does the plugin push back GPS positions and mission metadata into Security Desk?

Yes. The plugin pushes back in real time the GPS position of drones, their flight status (availability, mission in progress, return to base) and the associated mission metadata. Drones are visualized as mobile entities on the Security Center map with a dynamic icon.

Can each FlytBase drone be recorded on a different Genetec Archiver?

Yes. The plugin lets you select a Genetec Archiver per FlytBase drone in Config Tool. Each drone (and its dock) can therefore be recorded on a dedicated Archiver - useful to spread the storage load across multiple Archivers, isolate video per site, or align recording with the Security Center network topology.

Licenses

What licenses are required?

GSC-RS-ADDONX-DDF-BASE (Genetec base license of the Drone Dispatch Framework, developed by ADDONXPERT - available only with Security Center Enterprise packages) + GSC-RS-ADX-DDF-FLYTBASE (FlytBase driver add-on, includes Fleet Monitoring for 5 drones) + ADV-RS-ADX-DDF-1Y to 5Y (mandatory Genetec Advantage contract, from 1 to 5 years, not sold separately).
